We’re pleased to share an important milestone for Select UK and our sister company, Carrara Coffee Roasters.
Following our latest BRCGS Food Safety assessment on 31 July 2026, we achieved an AA grade, the highest possible grade at our second assessment.
This builds on the Grade A achieved during our first assessment and reflects the work that has continued across our roastery, warehouse and distribution operations.
What does the AA grade mean?
BRCGS Food Safety is a globally recognised standard covering food safety, product quality, traceability and operational standards. Certification involves a detailed independent assessment of the systems and processes a business has in place to manage food safety and product quality.
Our first assessment resulted in a Grade A. Since then, we’ve continued to develop our systems and processes, with the latest assessment recognising that progress with an AA grade.
What happens behind the scenes?
There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to maintain the standards our customers expect.
Our BRCGS framework includes comprehensive HACCP procedures, internal auditing, full product traceability and rigorous site standards. Together, these systems help us identify and manage potential risks, maintain control across our operations and ensure products can be traced throughout the supply chain.
For customers, this provides further reassurance that the coffee we roast, store and distribute is handled within a robust, independently assessed food safety system.
Paul Armstrong, Owner of Carrara Coffee Roasters, said:
“To achieve an AA grade at our second assessment is fantastic recognition of how much work the team has put in since our first certification. It shows that we haven’t simply maintained the standards we achieved previously, we’ve continued to develop and improve.”
Building on our standards
The AA BRCGS Food Safety grade adds to our existing ISO 9001 accreditation, providing further independent recognition of the systems and processes behind our operations.
For us, achieving the AA grade isn't simply about the result of an assessment. It reflects the work of our teams across the roastery, warehouse and wider business to maintain high standards every day.
It’s an important milestone for both Select UK and Carrara Coffee Roasters, and one we’re proud to share with our customers.
We’ll continue to invest in our people, processes and systems to ensure we maintain the standards our customers expect from us.
